Since the Greco-Persian wars, Greeks used the term barbarian for all non-Greek-speaking individuals, including Persians, and this led to the invention of the concept of "others" in their historical identification. This is while wisdom and the way of Persian governance were praised in Greek philosophical thoughts. Historical thoughts and Renaissance historiography were influenced by Greek and Roman thoughts in various ways; meanwhile, it followed the philosophical school of Socrates and his disciples in relation to the subject and status of Persia in ancient history and contemporary period. The translation of the Cyropaedia from Xenophon, Instead of Herodudt's works was influential in this regard. In addition, on the one hand, the trend of Renaissance historiography to political and national history, and on the other hand, political developments in Western Asia, including the rule of Timur and Ozon Hassan Agh Qoyunlu on Persia, had a significant impact on the evolution of the Renaissance historiography approach toward Persians. In relation to the position of Persian history and civilization, the aim of this descriptive-analytical study is to examine the nature and the way of presenting "continuity" and "developments" in the historical thoughts of the Renaissance from the preceding period. تاریخ‏نگاری رنسانس، همانند سایر وجوه این نهضت فرهنگی و ادبی، در پی احیای فرهنگ و تمدن یونان و روم باستان بود. از زمان جنگ‌های ایران و یونان، بربرخواندن غیریونانی‌ها متوجه ایرانی‌ها شد و در هویت‏سازی تاریخی آنها، به ابداع مفهوم «دیگری» انجامید. این در حالی است که تفکر فلسفی یونانی‌ها، ایرانی‌ها را صاحبان خِرد و حکمت دانسته و شیوﮤ حکومت‏داری آنها را ستوده بود.<br /> تاریخ‏نگری و تاریخ‏نگاری رنسانس در وجوه مختلف، از اندﻳﺸﮥ یونانی و رومی ﺗﺄثیر پذیرفت؛ اما در ارتباط با موضوع و جایگاه ایران در تاریخ باستان و دورﮤ معاصر، از مکتب فلسفی سقراط و شاگردانش پیروی کرد. ترﺟﻤﮥ <em>کوروپدیا</em> اثر گزنفون به‌جای <em>تواریخ </em>هرودوت، در این زمینه تأثیرگذار بود. علاوه‌براین، ازیک‌سو گرایش تاریخ‏نگاری رنسانس به تاریخ سیاسی و تاریخ ملی و ازسوی‌دیگر تحولات سیاسی در آسیای غربی، ازجمله فرمانروایی تیمور و اوزون‌حسن آق‏قویونلو بر ایران، در تحول رویکرد تاریخ‏نگاری رنسانس به ایرانی‌ها تأثیر بسزایی داشت.<br /> این پژوهش به روش توصیفی‌تحلیلی در صدد است چرایی و چگونگی «تداوم» و «تحول» در اندﻳﺸﮥ تاریخی رنسانس را در مقایسه با دوران پیش از آن، در ارتباط با جایگاه تاریخ و تمدن ایران بررسی کند. https://jhr.ui.ac.ir/article_22656_a11af603aac93369632388e246c1f903.pdf
